SafeHouse guards the files on your local machine or removable media from being seen, read, stolen or hacked. Files protected by SafeHouse can only beaccessed after entering a secret password known only to you. SafeHouse will never interfere with the way you use your favorite applications.
SafeHouseworks by adding a new drive letter to Windows to represent the encrypted storage areas holding your private files. All files saved to these storage areasare instantly protected by SafeHouse. It’s that simple. SafeHouse keeps your confidential files in large protected container files which can range in sizefrom a few megabytes to hundreds of gigabytes. In a way, they’re sort of like folders.
Some people like to refer to these special files as safes or datavaults, because each one is protected using a password known only to you. In SafeHouse, we call these files "volumes", which is simply afancy term which has gained popularity over time for describing this kind of technology.
SafeHouse volumes can hold as many files in them as will fit. Andif you do ever run out of room, you can easily make your volumes bigger. You’ll create your first volume when you install the software; however, there’sreally no limit to the number of volumes you can create. The only limit is the amount of hard drive space available on your PC. Volumes can also belocated on external drives and removable media.
